Gail M. Meehan, M.P.H., L.N.H.A., CSA

Gail Meehan has over thirty years’ experience working nationally and internationally specializing in public health, specifically in the field of gerontology. She has a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Vermont and received her Master’s in Public Health from Boston University School of Medicine. She is a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator, a Certified Senior Advisor and an Aging Life Care Specialist. She has served as an Executive Director, Administrator and Senior Vice President of geriatric and public health programs for government agencies, hospitals, nursing homes and businesses including the Veterans Administration Geriatric Research, Education and Clinical Center, Harvard Division on Aging and the NY Presbyterian Healthcare Network. Gail was awarded a Geriatric Fellowship from the University of Massachusetts to study mental health and aging while working at the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health as the coordinator of state wide geriatric mental health services. She was also funded by the World Health Organization in Denmark and the Motala Hospital in Sweden to investigate care of the aged and alternatives to institutionalization in Scandinavia. She has developed and administrated hospital and nursing home based continuums of care including sub-acute care units, adult day medical programs, senior membership programs, geriatric outpatient services and geriatric evaluation units.
As a result of her expertise working with the medical and long-term care systems Ms. Meehan is uniquely qualified to guide and connect consumers to and through the health care maze while advocating for their care. Ms. Meehan facilitates caregiver support groups, speaks on a variety of topics related to older adults, caregiving and understanding the health care system and is a member of a county wide elder abuse team.
Ms. Meehan also serves as a consultant to the health care industry by providing training in the areas of regulatory standards, survey preparation, quality assurance, performance improvement, competencies, and designing innovated modalities and systems that will meet the unique needs of the older adult consumer.
Ms. Meehan cared for two parents who suffered long illnesses and is well aware of the needs and concerns of all people involved. She collaborates with a group of highly trained professionals nationwide to meet the needs of her clients.
Ms. Meehan is a member of the American Society on Aging, Aging Life Care Association™, Society of Certified Senior Advisors, Founder and Chairperson of Senior Health Advocates Colorado and on the Board of the Colorado Senior Lobby.
